Fuel granules made of wood and agricultural waste are renewable and environmentally friendly raw materials. On the contrary, oil products are not renewable ones and the prices for them are getting higher and higher all the time. In addition, fuel granules are friendlier and safer for the environment than the majority of familiar kinds of solid fuel. The products of oil industry are the most harmful for the environment (the mass of carbon dioxide released is 70% of the mass of the fuel burnt). Coal is also not safe as far as it releases 60% of carbon dioxide from its mass. At the same time, while pellets and wood granules are being burnt, the amount of carbon dioxide released is close to zero. The use of biofuel for generating energy lets us both reduce the amount of harmful emissions into the atmosphere and reduce the amount of illiquid biomass, threatening to ecology. Moreover, it lets us reduce the cost of energy by using cheap local base materials. The main sources of base materials for pellet production: Engagement in processing of waste is topical, profitable and humane. As far as the production of 1 ton of pellets requires 3-5 cubic meters of illiquid biomass, which allows us to save at least 4 trees from being cut down. The business in the energy sphere always has great chances to be successful and prosperous. All the measures to develop the market of solid biofuels in Western Europe are adopted within the framework of the European legislative acts that require the EU-member countries to increase the share of renewable energy sources in the energy balance. By 2020 it is planned to reach 20% mark. According to some predictions, the consumption of pellets in the EU will grow from 11 to 50-80 million tons per year by this time. The main consumers will become pellet power stations. These are the cheapest green power plants comparing even with solar and wind power stations today. Pellets have high energy indicators. All the major European power stations switch to granulated wood fuel. The total indicators of the European market will reach 20 million tons of pellets in 2017.
